Israel condemns the terrorist attack against the Indian Embassy in Kabul

Sends condolences and stresses the need for concerted action against the terrorist organizations

While on his 3-day visit to the capital, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Aaron Abramovich, condemns in the strongest possible terms the atrocious attack against the Indian Embassy in Kabul (7th July 2008):

“Israel condemns in the strongest terms the terrible act of terror against the Indian Embassy in Kabul, which caused so much loss of life to Indian diplomats and other innocent people.

There can never be any justification for terrorism whatever its cause. As a country that has suffered so greatly at the hands of Islamic fundamentalist terror, Israel understands the need for concerted international action against those organizations which carry out such murderous acts and those countries which support them.

We extend our deepest sympathy to the families of the victims and our wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded.”

Israel to help boost Rajasthan olive growth

The Hindustan Times -May 19, 2008
Thousands of olive plants will be nurtured to green the Rajasthan desert once Israel and India set their action plan for agriculture in motion.

As both countries celebrate 60 years of their independence, agriculture is the new frontier and Israel will post a "very senior level official" as full-time agricultural attaché at their embassy in New Delhi, diplomatic sources told HT.

The plan to appoint an agriculture attache was finalised when Israel’s agriculture minister Shalom Simhon visited India earlier this year and visited Delhi, Rajasthan and Maharashtra and signed a memorandum of understanding for ten million dollars to augment agriculture cooperation.

Scholar eyes India-Turkey-Israel ties- The Asian Age

By RAMESH RAMACHANDRAN

New Delhi, March 19: Reigniting a nascent debate on Israel-Turkey-India trilateral dialogue, a visiting Israeli academic has suggested India to consider an "informal" alliance among them for regional cooperation.

Prof. Zaki Shalom from the Ben Gurion University, whose interests range from the threats of radical terror to Israeli defence policy, believes the trilateral framework will pay a rich dividend to all three countries. "No formal alliance is needed as long as all the countries involved can cooperate in a practical manner ... it could be an informal alliance to foster regional cooperation," Prof. Shalom said in an interaction with this newspaper.

"It would not mean we agree on all issues. We got to live with them (differences)," he said, adding that it is upto Israel and India to take the initiative to enlarge this framework of cooperation to include other players. He insisted that such a cooperation is called for to "prevent the people who want to change the status quo by the use of force". Israel and India have a lot in common and they can do business despite disagreements, he added.
